Vibrant in Faith – Parish wide consultation process on the future of our parishes
Parishioners are at the heartbeat of every faith community. We are blessed to have people here in St Nicholas parish who have a keen sense of belonging and identity with the parish. The future of any parish depends on itself and on the people who are involved in their local church community. It is important from time to time for parishioners to reflect on the gift of faith and on the parish in which their faith is shared, celebrated and experienced.
This Autumn, the diocese is embarking on a parish wide consultation process on the future of all 60 parishes in the Diocese of Limerick. Bishop Leahy is inviting all parishioners to participate in this consultation process to help shape the future of pastoral units and parishes. A consultation gathering will be held in our parish on; Wednesday 24th September in St Nicholas Church at 7.30pm.
As preparation for the meeting, we need to reflect on,
- how can we as a parish sustain our faith community into the future?
- Where do we see scope for cooperation with neighbouring parishes in our pastoral unit of parishes?
- What aspects of parish life could we, the laity, take responsibility for and organise ourselves?
Many thanks for your support and assistance in the parish. We look forward to welcoming you on Wednesday 24th September in St Nicholas Church at 7.30pm
Monthly Saturday evening Mass at St. Nicholas Church
On a trial basis, we are going to have Mass on the first Saturday evening of each month at 6.30pm, beginning on October 4th. If the Mass is well attended, we would have it from October to June. This is to facilitate those who cannot make the 5.00pm in St. Mary’s Church, also we hope that families with young children who are involved in sports on Sunday mornings, along with families with children celebrating either First Holy Communion or Confirmation will avail of this opportunity. Let’s see how it goes.
