Bambinelli Blessing – 6th & 7th December 2025

The beautiful Advent Tradition, Bambinelli Sunday, was instituted by Saint Pope John Paul II during his Papacy. Families brought their Baby Jesus figures from the crib at their homes to St. Peter’s Square where the Pope will bless both the people and the figurines during the Angelus.

We will celebrate “Bambinelli Sunday” at all Masses on December 6th/7th – The Second Sunday of Advent. You are invited to bring the Baby Jesus figure from your home to Mass that weekend to be blessed.

A suggestion: Following the blessing, take your “Bambinelli” home and place it in a gift box, wrap it, and save it for Christmas morning. Let this be the first gift your family opens on Christmas, when together you place your Baby Jesus figure in the crib, and have a home blessing of the Nativity for your whole family

The Department of Education is currently conducting a Primary School Survey that will determine the future provision of Primary Schools and crucially could lead to lasting changes in your school. In simple, direct terms, you are being asked if you want your school to stay a Catholic school or if you want that to change. Don’t leave it to others, have your say before 16 December 2025

Monthly Saturday evening Mass at St. Nicholas Church

On a trial basis, we are going to have Mass on the first Saturday evening of each month at 6.30 pm, beginning next Saturday, October 4th. If the Mass is well attended, we would have it from October to June. This is to facilitate those who cannot make the 5.00pm in St. Mary’s Church, also we hope that families with young children who are involved in sports on Sunday mornings along with families with children celebrating either First Holy Communion or Confirmation will avail of this opportunity to come to Mass.
