The final figure collected between St. Mary’s Parish and St. Nicholas Parish for our Rwanda appeal amounted to €15,682.
The breakdown is; €3192 in St. Nicholas and €12,490 in St. Mary’s. However, I need to explain the larger figure for St. Mary’s.
Of the €12,490 there were a number of large donations. There were;
one of €1,000 (from someone up the country who watches our Masses online)
one donation of €500.
two donations of €2,000 each
Thus €5,500 came from just 4 donations.
One of the donations of €2000 was given to help with the continuation of the children’s education from our appeal for Guatemala last year.

We will be forwarding €13,682 to Trócaire for the work on the houses in Rwanda. At a cost of €2500 per house, we will have covered the cost of 5, and almost a 6th home. This outdid our target of four houses.
All I can say, is that you can be truly proud of this achievement. Prayers are being matched with practical living of our faith.
Thanks to each and every one of you who helped. I am really, really proud of the achievement!!
Fr Richie

The beautiful Advent Tradition, Bambinelli Sunday, was instituted by Saint Pope John Paul II during his Papacy. Families brought their Baby Jesus figures from the crib at their homes to St. Peter’s Square where the Pope will bless both the people and the figurines during the Angelus.

We will celebrate “Bambinelli Sunday” at all Masses on December 6th/7th – The Second Sunday of Advent. You are invited to bring the Baby Jesus figure from your home to Mass that weekend to be blessed.

A suggestion: Following the blessing, take your “Bambinelli” home and place it in a gift box, wrap it, and save it for Christmas morning. Let this be the first gift your family opens on Christmas, when together you place your Baby Jesus figure in the crib, and have a home blessing of the Nativity for your whole family

For Attention of Parents of children attending Primary Schools or have yet to start

The Department of Education is currently conducting a Primary School Survey that will determine the future provision of Primary Schools and crucially could lead to lasting changes in your school. In simple, direct terms, you are being asked if you want your school to stay a Catholic school or if you want that to change. Don’t leave it to others, have your say before 16 December 2025
