St Nicholas Parish Pastoral Council monthly meeting took place on Monday 8th May. Listed below are some of the items that were discussed;
Communion & Confirmation: We want families to consciously choose to receive the sacraments and not just going along with the flow. A meeting will be held before the summer break with the parents of next year’s First Holy Communion and Confirmation children to outlining the program of preparation for the families. Parents will be asked to reflect over the summer time to decide if they wish their child to go forward for the relevant sacrament and enrol in September
Mass Bookings: With immediate effect we will list the weekly Mass bookings in our Newsletter for the relevant week. To facilitate this, it is important when you are booking a Mass that it is done no later than the Thursday, as this will ensure that the name will appear in the Newsletter.
Eucharistic Ministers & Readers: We would ask our Eucharistic Ministers and Readers to ‘sign-in’ on the Attendance Register before Mass. This register is in the Pastoral Centre. Also, there will be a meeting for all Readers and Eucharistic Ministers in September to both renew the spiritual aspect of these roles and to also re-familiarise themselves with relevant protocols.
Groundsman: A huge thank you to our new groundsman, Brian Holman. He has done some trojan work in the church grounds so far and we look forward to the improvements he will make as time goes on.
Improvements to the Church: We have spoken to an architect about some work that is badly needed at the front entrance to St Nicholas Church, we will keep you updated when we have some news! We have also spoken with decorator about painting the church.
